2007 Conference Team
Fr. Benedict J. Groeschel, CFR, is the Director
of the Office for Spiritual Development of the Archdiocese of New York.
He founded and is on the staff of Trinity Retreat, a center for prayer
and study for the clergy. Father Benedict obtained
his doctorate in psychology from Columbia University in 1971 and is professor
of pastoral psychology at St. Joseph’s Seminary of the Archdiocese of New York. In May 1987, along with eight other friars, he formed the community,
which now has over 100 friars and sisters, follows the Capuchin Tradition and
is dedicated to preaching reform and providing care for the homeless in the
South Bronx, Harlem, Newark, London and Honduras. Father Benedict has published a number of books
and tapes on spirituality and pastoral counseling and is familiar to television
audiences.
Deacon Henry Liberstat, ordained in 1986 for
the Diocese of Orlando in Florida, ministers at St. Mary Magdalen Parish.
His ministries include preaching, catechesis, and evangelization in small
Christian communities. He earned a master’s degree in pastoral ministry
from St. Thomas University in Miami. He
has preached parish missions and retreats and has had several books published
including: Miracles do happen, A Catholic Confession of Faith and Refresh your
life in the Spirit. He received the
St.Francis de Sales award the highest reward given to an individual for outstanding
contribution to the Catholic Press.
Father Tom Flowers is the Bishop's Liaison
for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the Diocese of Wilmington. He was ordained
in 1977 and he has served in the parish communities of St. John’s - Holy Angels
in Newark, St Catherine of Sienna, St. Hedwig in Wilmington, St. Joseph in Middletown,
and currently as the Pastor of St. Polycarp Church, Smyrna, DE.
